Dance Performance: Dartmouth Sugarplum

Please join us for an evening of dance with DARTMOUTH SUGARPLUM. Founded in 2009, Sugarplum is Dartmouth College's premier audition-based and student-led contemporary and jazz dance group.  They perform their own choreography and specialize in lyrical, contemporary, modern, jazz, and jazz funk dance styles.

PERFORMERS:

Alex Eyvazzadeh is a Sociology major from Wilbraham, Massachusetts. At the age of four, she began training with the New England Dance Conservatory in various styles, including ballet, modern, jazz and tap. She later joined her high school’s dance group, Loomis Chaffee Dance Company II.

Amanda Jiang is a Biology major and Global Health minor from Salt Lake City, Utah. Amanda started dancing when she was little, focusing on ballet, tap, and jazz with the Thompson Lane Dance Studio. Later in her dance career, she started taking modern classes and Chinese traditional dance.

Ashlyn Morris is a Biology and Neuroscience double major from Carmel, Indiana. She grew up dancing in a number of styles, including jazz, contemporary, and pointe, as a part of both Indy Dance Academy’s competition company and its ballet performance program. During high school, she was also a part of the state-champion Brebeuf Dance Team.

Jessica Weil is an English major from Richfield, Ohio.  Since the age of three she has trained in various styles, including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, and contemporary, at Art in Motion Dance Center.  She also danced competitively across the country for twelve years with Art in Motion’s dance competition team. Some summer programs in which she has participated include the Rockettes Summer Intensive, Cathy Roe’s Dance Spectacular, and Broadway Artist Alliance.  At Dartmouth, she is a dancer and choreographer for Sugarplum and is also involved with Dartmouth Dance Ensemble and Dartmouth Classical Ballet Theatre.

Sammy Goncalves is an Economics major and Italian minor from Long Island, NY. Sammy began dancing at the age of three at Jan Martin Dance Studio, where she was trained in jazz, lyrical, contemporary and tap competitive dance. She also taught at her dance studio for many years. Throughout her dance career, she was also trained in ballet at Lynch School of Ballet and Zawacki Dance. She was a member of the nationally ranked Syosset Varsity Kickline for all four years of high school and was also captain for Junior and Senior years. She is super excited to be continuing her dance journey with Sugarplum!
