Please join us for the opening reception of IF EVER an exhibit of new work by Glenn Goldberg. Goldberg is a painter, sculptor, and draughtsman with a wide ranging career over the better part of the past 40 years. A native of the Bronx, Glenn has never been satisfied to be confined as one type of artist. He has explored numerous media over the years, from glass blowing, ceramics and cast plastics to more traditional drawing, painting, and works on paper. As a teacher and an artist Glenn is dedicated to the labor, commitment, and craft of those two roles. Similar to the way an athlete trains, Glenn approaches the practice of art with exacting discipline, the product of that energy finding a home in work that is elaborate and arresting yet somehow effortless and serene.
The paintings remind us that the personal is often implicitly multicultural. They might be pages from a medieval bestiary illuminated by a time-traveling monk who has cribbed from Indian paintings, Tantric mandorla and ritual sand paintings as well as heraldic banners, sky maps, modern cartoons and modernist abstraction.

The opening reception is from 3pm-6pm with an artist talk at 4pm. IF EVER runs from June 8 - July 21.
