Please join us for Aidron Duckworth Exhibition XXXIV - THE MULTITUDES CONTAINED. In the final exhibit of his work at the museum, this show examines themes of the multi-faceted self that would fascinate Duckworth throughout his life and career. Working in styles ranging from realist to cartoonish, beautiful to grotesque, Duckworth returned over and over to the multiple portrait and the multidimensional face. At times these images would manifest in figures jockeying for primacy in a given scene. In other works transparent beings would emerge slowly from the body parts of others, his arm becomes her nose, her breast forms the second of two eyes. Not often content to allow one visage dominate a picture, Duckworth refused his subjects the simplicity of a singular gesture. The complexity of the self becomes the subject in place of the composition of their features. Humans are combinations - bodies and faces and memories and thoughts - and Duckworth, in these pictures, refuses to let them be simplified.
The opening reception will be from 3pm-6pm. Exhibition XXXIV - THE MULTITUDES CONTAINED runs from July 27 - October 27.
